Buddy read with a grown-up or older brother or sister every night.
Talk about the story together.  What was it about?  Who was the main character?  What was the most important thing that happened?  How did the story end?  Did you like the book?  Why or why not?

WEEK OF:  June 14, 2010:


Monday  

On index cards, write down 2 or 3 words that were hard to read in the book you read with your buddy.  Study them and try to remember them tomorrow.



Tuesday   

 Re-read your word cards. Study and practice the words gain.  Enjoy your book again or choose a new one.
        
Wednesday

Write a sentence about any book you enjoyed reading this week. Say the words to yourself, listen to the sounds , and think how you can write them.

Thursday

Read a story.  Tell the story back to your buddy.  Remember to tell what happened first, in the middle, and last.

Friday

Try a magazine that has a lot of pictures.  What story are the pictures telling?  Share your ideas with your buddy.

On the weekend  Going places?


Try to read some signs.  You might see a STOP sign.  Think of a word that rhymes with STOP.  Try to read some words.   Try to make some rhymes.  Are you there yet???  Of course you are!

Visit the public library often.  Apply for a library card if you don't have one already.

Reading is the key to learning.
