Welcome to Miss Scott's Kindergarten Class!
2008-2009
Mrs. Kaminski, Teacher Assistant
Room 220

It was great to see you at parent-teacher conferences. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Classroom Reminders
We have been practicing writing our first in class. Please reinforce this skill with your child at home.
Please check your child's homework folder each day to review his/her work and important notices.
Homework should be completed in pencil and colored with crayons. Homework will be placed in the PAPERS TO BE RETURNED TO SCHOOL pocket.
Remember to send in a small snack for your child everyday. A juice box, cereal bar, pretzels, or a piece of fruit would be great.

Reading and Writing
The following letters/sounds will be introduced as of November:
m /m/, s /s/, r /r/ , t /t/ , p /p/, c /c/ as in cake, a /a/ as in apple, n /n/, and d /d/.
We make a picture poster for each letter to hang in our classroom. The children enjoy thinking of new words that begin with the newly introduced letters.

The following sight words will be introduced throughout the year: my, the, a, like, I, am, at, go, we, on, to, is, no, you, have, do, what, see, look, come, this, and, for me, one, little, are, here.

The children write words and draw matching pictures in their journals on a daily basis. I will be encouraging them to use sight words in their journals.

Please have your child read the copies of the Harcourt Brace take home books to you. We also make sight word books in class. They contain newly introduced sight words.

Please read with your child every night!

Math
