Madison and Grover Cleveland's New Librarian

My name is Debby Geis and I am the new librarian in Madison and Grover Cleveland Schools.  I see kindergarten to grade 5 for thirty minutes a week.  I am enjoying working with your children and teaching them about our libraries.  So far we have discussed the correct way to handle a library book and what happens if a book gets damaged.  They are learning about the different ways in which the books are filed in our library. Grade 4 and 5 are presently learning about the Dewey Decimal System.  This is the way in which our non-fiction books are filed.  The children can take out a book for the week and return it for a new book the following week.  It is so important for your children to take out books on topics they like reading about.  Please encourage you son/daughter to read.  It helps them in so many ways.  It will help them learn new words and how to use them and spell them correctly.  It will help them with understanding what they have read. Some non-fiction books can teach your child about everything from history to science.  If they read the fiction books they can learn about a big red dog named Clifford or about growing up on another planet!  What a terrific experience for your child to take part in.

READ, READ, READ!!
