Seniors:
Completed research on prospective schools & narrowed down selections to 4-6 colleges/universities/vocational schools
Request (3-4) written recommendations from teachers, counselors, social workers, employers, coaches, etc;
Type drafts of college application essays/personal statements & have them proofread!
Register for SATs and/or ACTs & request that your scores are sent directly to your prospective schools!
Apply to scholarship programs on the internet & in the RHS Guidance Office
Continue to update your resume (a.k.a. brag sheet) with your extra-curricular activities.
Attend your prospective schools' open house dates.
Visit college/university admission directors & recruiters in the cafeteria during your lunch periods (Dates & schools are announced over Kudos)
Submit college applications online between October - January
Apply for financial aid beginning in January 2012
Attend our annual Senior Financial Aid Night on January 5, 2012 in the cafeteria. Time to be announced.
Attend our annual RHS College & Career Fair on October 11, 2011 in the gymnasium at 6:30pm
Plan to attend New Jersey College Goal Sunday on February 26, 2012 at various NJ Colleges/Universities. On this Sunday, financial aid counselors will offer free assistance with completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Prior registration is required! Register at www.njcollegegoalsunday.org
Be diligent and meet with your counselor often!
Juniors:
Make an appointment with your school counselor to review transcript for graduation requirements!
Network with college admissions reps at annual RHS College & Career Fair on October 11, 2011 at 6:30pm in the gym.
Explore COIN website (www.community.coin3.com) for career inventory/exploration. See your counselor for usernames & passwords.
Request college recommendation letters from teachers, counselors, social workers, coaches, employers, etc;
Research your prospective colleges' websites (for admission requirements) and visit their Open Houses
Create a 1st draft for the college essay/personal statement (if required) and have it proofread & saved!
Take the SAT &/or ACT tests in April, May or June.
