Class Procedures and Requirements

Supplies:  Each student will need a notebook, which can be loose leaf or spiral.  Students must come to class prepared each day with their textbook, notebook, and writing utensils.

Grading Policy:
Quizzes                                                 30%
Homework                                                        20%
Class Participation                                             10%
Tests & Projects                                                40%

Homework will be checked for completion daily. Homework assignments that are incomplete or turned in a day late will receive  credit.  Homework turned in anytime after that will receive a grade of 0.  
Class Participation grades are 100, 50, or 0.  These grades consists of the following:  Class Discussions, Group Activities, Active Listening, Presentations, Class Assignments.  If a student is present, prepared, completes her/his assignments, and participates, they will receive a 100 for the day.

Assessments - Quizzes and Tests will be given on a weekly basis.  During an assessment the following are not allowed:
a)      Books, bags(purses), or notes on students desks.  
b)      Student-to-student conversation of any sorts
c)      Dishonest means of obtaining answers.

Make up work - If you are absent from class it is your responsibility to look on the homework website and get the assignment that you missed.  Students have the time period of their absence to make up an assignment.   If a student sees that she/he has missed a test or quiz it is the students responsibility to ask the teacher when they can make up the test or quiz that they missed.   

Class attendance - Once the bell rings students are expected to begin the daily do now.  Before the bell rings students are expected to prepare for class by quietly taking out their homework, and sharpening or obtaining pencils, paper, etc.   

Notebooks must only contain pencil writing and be organized chronologically by the date and objective of the assignments.  You must have a folder to include all handouts, graded tests, quizzes, etc.  Notebooks will be checked at the end of each marking period for neatness and completion.   No excuses will be tolerated for not having a notebook.  If at anytime during the school year a student looses their notebook.  That student must copy someone’s notes or receive a zero for their notebook.    

Leaving the room Once you are in class, plan to stay.  There is plenty of time during your lunch and passing periods to do what you need.  Exceptions are at the teacher’s discretion.  If you need to request to leave the room ask the teacher discretely, so that no one else hears you.

When the teacher is absent all work assigned will be collected at the end of the period and counted as a homework grade.  This work must be handed in to the substitute teacher at the end of the period for full credit.  All work must be shown for full credit.
Unacceptable behavior is documented and may result in detention, and or phone calls home.

Extra credit is not available.
