Independent Reading-  Book Advertisement Project
Background Info:   Advertisements are very special tools used by people to make others want to buy something.~ They usually have:
  • lots of pictures about the topic as well as information about the product (in our case- title, author, characters, setting, theme etc.)
In this case, the product is the book you have chosen to read. Your job is to design an advertisement that might make other people want to read this spectacular book!

Directions:~ (Read through all directions before starting!)
1.~ Begin by brainstorming a list of important details from the book.~  Be thinking about main characters, setting, important features, symbols, and themes.
2.~ Look at your list and decide which details can either be illustrated (drawn) or written on your advertisement.~ You should have at least 5 written details about the book ready for your poster. These details should include who, what, when, where and why.
(For example:~In the book Holes, Camp Green Lake was a big part of the book, so I might want to draw Camp Green Lake on my poster.~ I could include holes everywhere, the cabin with 2 trees around it, and a cluster of tents.)

3.~ Use a PENCIL to draw a sketch of your advertisement.~  You can use words, or just use the title.~ Just remember, this advertisement is supposed the make someone want to read Holes.
4.~ Use markers, crayons, or colored pencils to begin coloring your advertisement.
5.~ Sign your name on the BOTTOM, RIGHT CORNER of your poster.
6.   On the back please attach a 2 paragraph summary of the book!  Would you recommend this book to others?  Why or why not?
~
~ Congratulations, you're ready for the advertising world!

So you're done with your advertisement, huh?  Check the table below to see what your grade will be.
